They are the most chosen action for a custom rifle today, and there are a number of very good actions available. With a carefully chosen action, mated to your specific choice of options, your magazine rifle is made to perform faultlessly, be aesthetically pleasing and yet still be as individual as you are.
Military 98 type actions do require additional modifications to bring them up to scratch, but once it’s done, they are as good as anything else you may buy.
There are many possibilities when building a bolt action rifle, the best thing to do is to sit down and talk it through with your rifle maker. Let them know what you want, and what you will be using the rifle for. Listen to their advice and suggestions, but don’t hesitate to ask questions and put in your own ideas. Remember, this is to be your rifle.
