Born in Tasmania, Australia in 1965 and raised in the country, I had my first air rifle when I was big enough to safely use it, my first 22 rim-fire at four years old, and was hunting rabbits by myself at nine. My first centerfire, a 22K Hornet, and a 12 gauge shotgun were at age twelve (that was also when I started reloading) My first big rifle, a Ruger No.1 in 375 H&H magnum came at fourteen and my first double rifle, a Haliday in 470 Nitro express was at age eighteen. Handguns came along at age twenty. I was a competitive clay target shooter from 1989 to 1998, reaching and maintaining “AA” grade in Trap shooting, winning the Tasmanian State Trap Championship’s Overall High-Gun in 1997. I started as a full-time gunsmith in July 1988 in a well known Launceston gun store, where I worked for twelve years, repairing and servicing many various types of firearms.
Life brings many changes, and after leaving the Launceston gun shop in August 2000, I spent three years driving semi-trailer trucks. But the desire to be working on guns and/or building high quality custom firearms was great. In October 2003, my wife and I opened our own custom gun making and gunsmithing business. As well as doing the various repairs etc, I have built a number of fine quality custom sporting rifles and handguns over the last few years. Through this, many of my custom gun clients and I have become good friends. Our workshop is set-up to offer gunsmithing and full custom services, with all machine work done in house on precision metalworking equipment.
All parts used are of the highest quality available, and all parts are hand fitted to each gun.
Workshop services include lathe and mill work, fabrication of obsolete or un-available parts and numerous other custom services.
Other than bluing and engraving, all custom building and general gunsmithing work is done by my own hands, in our workshop, one job at a time.
A custom gun won’t leave our workshop unless I am happy to put my name on it!
Quality doesn’t just happen; it is a deliberate choice. It takes conscious effort involving time, planning, care, and attention to detail.
Whatever the job, from a simple repair to a fully custom built firearm; our aim is quality!
We strive to exceed our customer’s expectations.
